Stillwater, Okla. – The OSU Parking and Transit Services Online Parking Permit Purchases Program has gotten off to a great start. The program began on June 1, and has been received very well by nearly all who have used the new online service. Despite a few initial password and computer access glitches, it has run smoothly and has been much more convenient for those not wishing to purchase their permit in person.

“Our goal is to get the parking permit process totally on-line and paperless.” said Hugh E. Kierig, OSU Parking and Transit Services Manager. “The on-line process for parking permit sales is the first part in an effort to make parking information and services better on the campus. In addition to parking permit purchases, persons can appeal a parking citation on-line and soon will be able to receive a notice via e-mail when they get an excessive number of tickets.”

Students, Faculty, and Staff of OSU can still purchase their 2005-2006 parking permit online at www.parking.okstate.edu. Permits purchased before July 22 will be mailed directly to the purchaser. Permits purchased after July 22 will need to be picked up in 104 USDA. Walk-in permit purchases begin July 15.

This on-line service eliminates the need for a person to wait in line to purchase his/her permit. There are a few exceptions, however. Persons seeking Handicap or motorcycle permits will not be able to use the online service. These groups will need to stop by the Parking office in 104 USDA. All persons wishing to park on the OSU campus during the upcoming school year are required to have a parking permit. The effective dates for displaying your new permit are August 1, 2005 through July 31, 2006.
